Hey, all of you He-Fans and She-Ravers!
As we’re sure you’ve all heard by now, the number of subscribers to the 2013 Masters of the Universe Classics Club Eternia at Mattel (MattyCollector.com) has dropped drastically from last year to this year. This has put the future of the line in danger of being cancelled altogether.
We’ve seen a lot of the discussion on various message boards and blogs surrounding this issue, and many people have commented that this may be some sort of ruse by Mattel just to sell more subscriptions and that there’s no true danger of the line ending. Well, you should know by now that we’ve always tried to be as open, honest and transparent with the fans as we could possibly be, and we’re telling you now that the Masters of the Universe Classics action figure line IS currently in danger of ending sooner than expected because of a sudden and drastic drop in the number of subscriptions to the line.
Mattel has never reached out to us for our assistance about anything of this nature in the past. In this case they have, so we know this is serious and we’re 100% confident that everything you’ve heard described by them is absolutely true, but it also tells us that there are people at Mattel that are as passionate about this stuff as many of the fans are and don’t want to see it end prematurely again. They’re not trying to get subscriptions because they need the extra money. As beloved as Masters of the Universe Classics is, monetarily it’s barely a blip on Mattel’s enormous radar. MotU Classics is a sort of love letter to all of the fans of the property who’ve kept the Eternian fire alive for this line over the past thirty years, and hopefully will continue supporting the property in their usual rabid manor however they can for many years to come.
We’re not going to get into the speculation of why or how the number of subscriptions might have so drastically dropped between last year and this year. You’ve probably read all of that stuff over and over again at this point. But we will say that even with the hiccups that have taken place throughout the history of the MotU Classics line, we still feel that it’s still one of the coolest toy lines produced today (possibly ever – at the risk of sounding conceited), and it amazes us that a massive corporation like Mattel has such love for the toy line and the fans that they’d continue to make every effort to produce the figures even without any sort of media backing or any huge return on their dollars invested. What may seem like just a giant toy producing machine to many of you, is actually a large group of people that are just as excited and anticipatory as each of you are about each new MotU Classics figure’s release. When these “hiccups” within the line occur, you can bet that it upsets them just as much as, if not more than, it upsets you and us.
So what happens now? Well, at this point we’re going to beg you to subscribe if you haven’t already. And the only real reason we’re begging at this point is so we’ll all have a shot at getting all of those awesome characters that you’ve all wanted to see in 3D plastic form in the MotU Classics line since it’s inception. We want them too! Ninjor? Mermista? Dragstor? Octavia? Squeeeze? Hydron? Peekablue? Saurod? Rio Blast? Batros? Gwildor? (okay… maybe not Gwildor) Freakin TWO-BAD?!? C’mon. Cornboy WANTS his Two-Bad… Are you going to make Cornboy cry? Don’t make Cornboy cry. There are obviously many more characters we could list here, but you get the idea.
We’re not saying that any of the characters listed above are currently scheduled to be made, and we can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to get to every single character that’s been requested, but what we can guarantee is that if the subscription levels needed to keep this line alive are not met, there’s absolutely no way we’ll get to see all of the characters we’d like to see in MotU Classics.
So, the bottom line is – PLEASE subscribe, and please spread the word as much as possible to get others to subscribe as well. There’s only a little more than a week left to get your subscription rolling, so time is of the essence. You can go here http://www.clubs.mattycollector.com/store/mattycol/en_US/DisplayShopperDefinedBundlePage/OfferID.5373544308 to begin your 2013 subscription to the MotU Classics Club Eternia.
We’re not asking as a bunch of guys who’re working on the line. We’re asking as fans of Master of the Universe and this toy line. Please subscribe to the 2013 Masters of the Universe Classics Club Eternia.
The Cosmic Creators: Four Horsemen Edition and the Alpha Phase wave 5 and Alpha Phase Deluxe 1 are also now in stock and are soon to be packaged and/or signed so they can be shipped out soon as well.
Thanks to everyone for their support so far, and we'd appreciate any help in spreading the word about the Outer Space Men!
Sorry for the delay, but it now appears as if our credit card processor - Bank of America - has finally worked out the glitches and Store Horsemen can once again now process credit cards. We just tested is and it seems to be working perfectly. Please see below for details about this.
If you're attempting to place an order on Store Horsemen with a credit card and you have any issues, be sure t contact us at 4HMD@optonline.net with the subject line "CREDIT CARD PROCESSING" and we'll look into it for you immediately.
Thanks for your patience and we apologize for any inconvenience this little glitch may have caused.
EDIT! - We've just been informed by Bank of America that because of the Memorial Day weekend holiday, processing set-up for credit card payments may have been delayed and we should once again be able to take credit card payments through Store Horsemen by tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon. Sorry for the delay and the inconvenience.
We've gotten notification from some of our potential customers that their credit cards are not being accepted through Store Horsemen. That's kind of our fault and we apologize for it, and we're getting it resolved as quickly as we can.
The issue stems from the fact that we're in the process with switching credit card processing companies (from Paypal Credit Card Processing back to our original processor - Bank of America Merchant Services) and it's apparently taking them longer than expected to get that transferred over from one account to the other.
We're switching our credit card processing back to Bank of America Merchant Services because we just found out that when your business processes credit cards through Paypal, not only do you have to sign up for Paypal Pro which is an extra $30.00 per month (which we knew about) on top of the processing fees they already collect, but they also withhold 30% of the credit card payments for 90 days just in case of possible credit card charge-backs (which is something we can understand and expect), AND they also withhold 30% of the regular Paypal payments for 90 days as well!!
What's up with that crap?!? Those regular Paypal payments have nothing whatsoever to do with the credit card processing, and we weren't told when signing up for it that regular Paypal payments would be withheld as well. So, currently we have over $7,000.00 sitting in Paypal's bank account that they're drawing interest on that we can't touch for three months! It's insane and it should be illegal.
In any case, we've just been informed by Bank of America that our credit card processing abilities should be back up and running as normal by Saturday at the latest, but possibly even by tomorrow (Friday). So if you need to order anything from Store Horsemen via credit card, please (PLEASE!) come back to the store on Saturday afternoon, and everything should all be back in order.
Direct Paypal payments through Store Horsemen are still operating as they always have been. Thanks!
This Monday night (May 21st, 2012), a new set of Outer Space Men will be going up for pre-order!
ALPHA PHASE OUTER SPACE MEN WAVE 5, & THE ALPHA PHASE VERSION OF THE FIRST DELUXE OUTER SPACE MAN will go up for pre-order at 9:00pm EST this coming Monday night at Store Horsemen!
This release features the following Outer Space Men:
GEMINI - He'll be cast in a clear yellow plastic with purple painted eyes and clear green ABS plastic accessories and helmets. Hidden behind each of the little green ABS buttons on his chest and back are Glyos sockets so you can build and re-design him to your hearts content! He'll also include a second set of arms, which are not pictured in the image below.
ORBITRON - He'll be cast in a clear pink plastic with blue painted eyes and chest dome. His accessories will be clear green ABS plastic. He also has a secret hidden feature which we're going to reveal sometime next week!
CYCLOPS - Our very first "deluxe" Outer Space Man, not only is he massive compared to the other Outer Space Men, but he comes decked out with lots of goodies! He'll be cast in a clear light blue plastic and his accessories and outer helmet will be clear green ABS plastic. His chest/back armor and inner helmet are fully removable so you can create a completely different look for the character. He also features another set of "open" hands which aren't shown in the image below.
Each figure will come in individual bags with card toppers and card-backs inserted into each bag. The cost will be $50.00 per set of all three figures (plus shipping & handling charges).
Quantities are extremely limited and orders accidentally taken over the allotted total amount for sale will be cancelled. A currently undetermined amount may be put aside to be sold at San Diego Comic Con. Once this series of figures is gone, it's GONE!
PLEASE NOTE: Your account WILL be charged at the time you place your pre-order and these figures aren't expected to begin shipping to customers until after the 2012 San Diego Comic Con (July 12 - 15, 2012). Quantities are extremely limited and orders accidentally taken over the allotted total amount for sale will be cancelled.
