SCARY-SHOT 2
Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 1:35PM Yeah we changed the name. Couldn't think of one that was good. Maybe we'll change it to something cooler if anyone comes up with something better. ;)
Anyway, todays' Scary-Shot is a look that you may have seen before, but in color, and in 2-up form. A lot of fans of Scarabus were hoping that we'd be able to produce at least some of the Scarabus variants that we've shown so far in 2-up form, so that's what we're going to be revealing over the next few days. And once all of the variant test shots have been revealed, there'll be a special feature to some of these heads (that even we didn't expect!) that we're REALLY excited to reveal to all of you!
The first Scarabus variant: Demonic Visage Scarabus!

SCARABUS SHOT 1!
Monday, November 8, 2010 at 4:15PM A lot of people have been wondering whether the figure of the evil monarch of Gothitropolis, Scarabus, will just be coming in his standard Scarabus look, or if he'll be released in any of the frighteningly awesome variant versions. They've also been asking which parts & accessories each Scarabus figure will come with.
Well, "Scarabus Shot" is going to be a daily entry revealing new and exciting information about Scarabus and all of the details that go along with the character every day, hopefully right up to the release of the Scarabus figure.
Even though we don't know what the final price point for Scarabus is going to be, and we're going to try to get the final price as low as possible, after seeing what we reveal in "Scarabus Shot" we think that you'll agree that we're doing everything we can to make sure that you're going to be getting your money's worth!
Today's entry features our final Scarabus test shot of Scarabus in his basic form and focuses mainly on his hands, and his staff.
As seen in earlier test shot photos, Scarabus will come with a set of interchangeable open "monster" hands, but what wasn't shown previously is that he'll also come with the removable translucent flames that attach to his hands seen on the 2-up prototypes that so many have asked us about!
Scarabus will also come with interchangeable fists, so he can be put into poses where you can imagine him shouting about how powerful and omnipotent he is!
Last, Scarabus will come with a set of interchangeable "accessory" hands that are made to hold weapons & accessories. And what good would "accessory" hands be without a cool accessory to go into them? Not only will Scarabus' staff come with an interchangeable Gothitropolan Standard, but it'll also come with an interchangeable spear head!
Now why would a powerful tyrant need a spear head you ask? Well, maybe he wouldn't. But someone else could certainly use that! Who could it be? Keep coming back to get your daily shot of Scarabus!
Tomorrow: More scary Scarabus stuff revealed!

HEADS UP, OUTER SPACE MEN FANS!
Monday, November 8, 2010 at 1:29PM We just got notification from our factory that the Regular Edition OSM figures have shipped from the factory and we're expecting to get them at our studio in early December (just in time for the big holidays!)!
We were hoping they'd get here a couple of weeks sooner, but since all of the big retailers are rushing to have all of their stuff shipped from overseas right now, it causes the stuff being shipped by us little fellas to take a little longer.
So, if you've already pre-ordered your OSM figures from Store Horsemen.com, expect to see them in a few weeks!
If you haven't ordered your OSM figures yet, what the heck are you waiting for?!? You'd better go get 'em now before this run is gone!
Just click HERE to be taken directly to the ordering page for the full set of Regular Edition Outer Space Men figures!

FOUR HORSEMEN FRIDAY RETURNS!!
Friday, November 5, 2010 at 7:27PM Yeah, we've been away for a while, but believe us, we've been extremely busy but hen you see the results you're gonna' really dig it. But we're back now and boy do we have some cool, almost daily (maybe even more often) new stuff to show you over the next couple of weeks! Scarabus fans, prepare yourself!
For today's Four Horsemen Friday we're giving you an insiders look at the creation of the "set" for our upcoming Scarabus (Gothitropolis) photo-shoot.
Believe it or not, as loosely put together as this looks right now, once the magic's done this is going to be once very cool impressive looking set. If you've seen the previous sets we threw together for The Outer Space Men and Queen Alluxandra & her Royal Court from 7th Kingdom, then you'll understand what we mean.
Step by step you're going to get to see this photography set come together, culminating in some really cool photos. Trust us...
The first stage starts with the not so basic back-drop. Using black foam core sheets, scores and texture are added to give the effect of walls built out of some sort of large block. even though it may not be so convincing right now, once the color and texture is added, it's going to be amazing.
Also added are sections of pvc pipe and strips of wood ----- to give some added ornate detail. Once again, just you wait...
Last, what the heck is that big, gaping hole doing in the middle of that wall? Don't worry, it's not going to remain a big, gaping hole. More on that to come.
That's the first stage of building the set. Some columns were just finished today, and we'll go over that and lots more cool stuff in the next Fun Friday installment.
By the way, that Scarabus lower torso and legs in the image? That's part of a 2-up prototype! That figure when assembled is over 14 inches tall! That should tell you how huge this set is going to be!

FOUR HORSEMEN FRIDAYS 3
Friday, October 1, 2010 at 4:17PM Continuing with where we left off during the last Four Horsemen Fridays segment, our pal Odawg had just poured mixed liquid urethane material into a bunch of silicone molds and dropped the molds into a pressure tank.
The urethane has now hardened, and Odawg can open up the tanks, remove the molds from the tanks, and get started on the casting clean-up.
Here we see Odawg about to open the mold to reveal the new urethane casting for the first time. The molds were previously split to allow the original clay sculpture to be removed, but we'll get into all of that when we show our mold making methods in the near future.
Once the mold is opened wide enough, Odawg can pull the hard urethane casting from the mold. This isn't always a simple task, and if you don't have strong fingers or if you do have an aversion to occasionally sticking yourself with an Exacto knife, then this job's definitely not for you.
Don't even try... We've been sure to pick a part for Odawg to de-mold that none of you would ever recognize. Feel free to take a guess though. Guarantee you'll be wrong.

And there you have it. The part's been de-molded, and next week the mold-master himself, Shane Dittsworth will take over for Odawg and give you a look at the methods and materials used to clean and assemble a tooling pattern and paint-master. See ya' then!
